Can your 10 year old do it? It’s a simple design rule and I applied it last night. I asked my daughter to take a look through the site to see if she could do three things: post a comment, write an article and play a video.
1. Post a Comment: Failed. I choose WordPress as my platform based on a recommendation from a friend. I have to admit that they have a great tool set for a great price – FREE. Free has its draw backs. In this case I gave up the ability to customize my site. However I gained even more – no advertising allowed and no spammers.
- Commenting is easy – just click on the TITLE of the article you are reading and scroll to the bottom and write your comment. I am not going to pre-screen your comments. However, I have a simple rule – please respect your peers and your comments will always be welcome.
2. Post an Article: Failed. This is a Social Blog. Your thoughts and opinions matter and I’d like to see you become a member of the press corps as a Cub Reporter.
- Become a Contributer — just send me an email — dana@flipsidejourney.com – and I will add you to our rolls. Please include your age and place of birth. You will receive a follow-up email indicating that you are now a member of the press corps. Initially I will start you as a Contributor. My job as Editor is to ensure a certain level of quality. If your first article passes the muster, then you will be promoted to Author and you can contribute at will.
3. Play a Video: Passed. One out of three isn’t bad. So much for my 10-year old rule.
Don’t worry about tags, uploading stuff or choosing categories. I’ll take care of that for you. I’ll post additional tips as “Comments” to this article. Watch this space for tips for the 10 year olds.
